First Family Bike Ride

We have great trails by us and finally had time and nice weather to take our bikes out.  We were given the orange kid trailer as a baby gift (one I think we will get lots of use of) but first Kev had to put it together.  Cinder loves to chew up cardboard boxes so she would sneak up, grab a piece of cardboard and then run fast to the other side of the wood pile to chew it up.  We were laughing pretty hard!

Maylee had to help her daddy assembly her trailer...
On the trail...Maylee loved the bike ride.  We both thought she was going to sleep once we got going but instead she talked and sang to us for the entire 8.5 miles!  We rode along the river and also saw a moose (brown spot in the background of the field).

These were taken at the picnic table beside the bike trail while Kev loaded the bikes up.
I just love her smile and happiness!

Riding the Tractor

This tractor belongs to cousins Cole and Finn.  They are moving up to Alaska for five years so we stopped by to say goodbye and best wishes!

Maylee & Chicks

We hatched chicks in my classroom this year.  It was a learning experience for both the students and I because I had never done it before.  We had great success with 17 out of 24 eggs...(I was told hatching 50% was good).  The students had a musical performance two weeks after the chicks hatched so I brought Maylee to watch.  Kindergartners were supposed to dress as farmers so I dressed Maylee as one too!

Maylee Claps & Knows Her Name!

Maylee learned to clap in Yellowstone.  We got her to copy us when we clap, but now she will clap when she is excited or when we say "Yay!"  She is also better about looking at you when you say her name.

Flat Stanley

Flat Stanley is a book character (he gets smashed by a bulletin board at school, but other than being flat he is okay).  He finds his flatness makes it easy for him to fit in an envelope and go through the mail to vacation spots.  The first grade class made a bunch of Flat Stanleys and mailed them out.  Then when he returned, they would map where he went and how far away it was from our school.  They made a poster for each of his vacations.  One girl needed someone to take her Flat Stanley on a vacation so we took him with us to Yellowstone...
Flat Stanley made a snow angel at the Continental Divide and had his picture taken with frozen buffalo dung...just for the kids :-)
Maylee loved Flat Stanley and every chance she got he would be in her mouth!  The kids thought the pictures of Maylee trying to eat Flat Stanley were hilarious.

Yellowstone May 2010

We had a great time on our trip to Yellowstone!  Even though it was cold, we loved going the weekend before Memorial Day to avoid the crowds.  We were there for four days and three nights, but wished we could stay longer to see more.  Some day we will go back when Maylee is older.  We saw two deer, three coyotes, a mama grizzly with four cubs, and too many elk and buffalo to count! Maylee LOVED watching the elk and buffalo up close.  She also loved the stroller rides!  We have about 380 photos from the trip but here is a smaller collection:
