Oregon Trip in July

At the end of July, "Big Ammie" (Wendy's grandma), Ammie, Wendy and Maylee took a road trip to Portland.  Uncle Kevin and Aunt Shelly wanted to experience the zoo, Oregon Coast, aquarium, and Tillamook Cheese factory with Maylee before they move to Denver in August.

A couple of times on the trip, we let Big Ammie's dog, Yankee, ride on Maylee's lap...
At Aunt Jan's house, Maylee made Ammie and Big Ammie get on the floor and play "Ni-nite" with her...

We left Big Ammie at Jan's house so she could spend time with Jan's family while we went on to Portland.
We stopped by Kev's distant cousin's house to see them and one of Cinder's puppies.
They choose a loving chocolate female named Payton.  Maylee enjoyed their trampoline!

Next, we went to Uncle Kevin and Aunt Shelly's apartment.  It was surprisingly close to Kev's relatives, just three blocks away!  Wendy helped Shelly get dinner ready while Uncle Kevin and Ammie took Maylee to the closest park.  Two days later, Wendy walked Maylee down to the same park and at every intersection Maylee told Wendy how to get there.  She also knew how to get back to the apartment, including which set of stairs and apartment door!  The other amazing thing she said was "That's Papa's bike!" while pointing to the motorcycle in the back of Kevin's truck.  What made all of our mouths drop was that she last saw the bike three weeks prior in Ammie's garage and no one told her that the truck was Kevin's.  Kevin never once walked to his truck prior to her saying this.  She didn't know that Kevin came to Idaho to pick it up weeks earlier and the truck was just parked on the street like a dozen other vehicles.  She is very observant!
She loved the purple flowers on this plant found along the walk between the park and Kevin's place.
She told Ammie to take her picture...

Emma & Sarah Time

More Lochsa Cabin Time in July

Maylee found a frog on the beach.  She watched it for a really long time before deciding she wanted to throw rocks in the river.  Every time we walked down to the beach after that she woud ask "Maylee frog, where are you?"
Maylee liked to wash the rock off and then throw it in the river...
 Butterflies that she found interesting...

One day after Kev got off work, we took a drive up the Lochsa River.  We saw some "horses" (actually mules but you can't convince Maylee that) and we went across a pack-bridge.  The drive was beautiful!

Maylee taking Cinder on a walk...(Cinder knows when Maylee is walking her and stays right beside her so that the leash is dragging on the ground.)

On a different day, we visited Kev on his lunch break and Maylee got to see the station's mules and horses.  Horses are becoming her favorite animal other than Cinder and the puppies.

We hiked to a waterfall with Kev's parents on his day off.

Special Learning Times in July

Library Time
We went to the Ceour d' Alene Library in July.  Their children's area is in quite large and is downstairs.  Maylee immediately got a book and ran to read it in their cave.

Bubble Time
Maylee is learning how to blow bubbles.

Watering Time
Nana Jo and Papa Dean gave Maylee a Dora watering can.
She loved helping water their flowers...also her clothes if you look close.

Maylee and the Twins

Cousin Mandy's babysitter went on vacation after the 4th of July so Maylee and I stayed at Mom's house to help her watch the twins.  Emma and Sarah came over to Mom's house to help too.  Maylee loved the babies!

Going on a walk to the park was a chore...

June 2011 Snapshots

Ammie's Squirrels
Ammie has been working hard on the landscaping of her new house.
Maylee helped set out the garden ornaments and really liked the squirrels.

Harden Family Duck
Neighbors up the road raise a duckling until it was large enough to be turned free on their family farm.  Maylee enjoyed riding her bike (Mama pushing her on her bike) uphill to their house to watch the duck.  Anytime she was riding her bike in our driveway she thought we needed to go see the duck.

Shoe Independence
Maylee was so proud when she figured out how to put her shoes on by herself.
I didn't have the heart to tell her that they were on the wrong feet.

Oregon Trip in June

School got out for Kev and Wendy on Friday, June 10th.  After school, Wendy and Maylee met Wendy's parents in CdA and rode with them to Oregon to attend Derek and David's high school graduations.  By June, Maylee was doing really well with potty training.  However, when she said she needed to go potty you didn't have much time until she would have an accident.  This made the trip to Oregon interesting.  There were a couple of times when Maylee said she needed to go potty and there were no exits off of the freeway for awhile. We told her that it would be okay to go in her diaper and she would tear up and say "No, mama." She held it until we could exit and find her a spot to go.  The original plan was to attend Derek's ceremony in The Dalles and then drive to Eugene to attend David's party.  Between CdA and The Dalles, we learned that Maylee's bladder need more pit stops and she was tired of riding in the car.  So, Wendy and Maylee stayed at Aunt Jan's house while her parents traveled on to the other graduation.

Great-Great-Great Aunt Ruth & Uncle Don

While in Moscow, we visited Great-Great-Great Aunt Ruth.  Maylee concentrated hard on the puzzle.  She thought she needed to help Ruth like her mom and grandma were.  She also used one of Don's shot glasses to get a drink of water.
