Playing at Home

We spent more time at home this summer than the cabin, because Kev was so busy with fires.  The good thing about that is Maylee can entertain herself and play independently so I got 80+ scrapbook pages done.  I'm not caught up, but I feel good making a huge dent in my "some day I'll get to that project."

Here are some random pictures taken in July and beginning of August.

Playing in the backyard...
She picked daisies for the baby and put them on my tummy,
then she wanted a picture so we had to set the camera's timer...

I put her kiddie pool on the deck so she wouldn't get grass in it going in and out,
plus it is mostly in the shade when it is up against the house.

She was upset that her favorite swimsuit was in the washing machine and had to wear a different one.
She put it on to please me, but then took it off once she was outside...

Cutie!

I was surprised she put all three puzzles together with no help so she had to have a pictures with them...

Helping exercise Cinder.  Cinder has a cone on because she is allergic to something that is causing to itch.  We are in the process of figuring out what is the cause.

She is saying "sh, sh, sh, sh..."  Kev doesn't like the puppy tattoo on her arm.

Notice, each car has a garage...

I had to take this picture, because it reminds me of when she was an infant.
She always has arched her back a lot when sleeping.

Maylee Drawings

We got Maylee a "desk" to work at because lately she has been interested in drawing pictures and learning to cut.  She likes working at her desk.

Here is some of her artwork...

Her "duck" (She asked for help with the eye)

Her person (she did the face by herself this time)

Her tree

Learning to cut...
She would put things cut out in my purse...how thoughtful!

CdA Lake with Ammie and Uncle Kevin

Uncle Kevin came up from Colorado to visit.  He drove up from Moscow with my mom and we had lunch before spending some time in the lake.

Trying so hard to catch a bird...

Olympics

I recorded the Olympics and then after Maylee went to bed, I would fast forward and watch the parts I wanted to.  If I thought she might like to watch a certain sport, then I would show her the next day.  One day, I thought she might like to watch the women's gymnastics.  As I was fast forwarding to get to that part, she said "Stop Mom! Stop!"  Women's synchronized springboard diving caught her attention.  (I showed her the gymnastics too, but she didn't care for it)  For days, she would ask to watch the diving.  She also tried to dive off our couch twice...she learned the hard wood floor is not a soft landing. Maylee also has asked for me to take her to "diving school."

Maylee was also a fan of synchronized swimming, or as she calls it "swim dancing."  She ran to her room and came back out with an Easter bonnet as her "swim hat."  She was getting frustrated that it wouldn't stay on as she was trying to mimic them, so I found her a knit hat downstairs in the winter gear that worked better.  I was able to capture some moments of her copying the "swim dancers."

Maylee's 1st VBS

Maylee's friend Ty from Carol's house invited her to come with him to his church's Vacation Bible School.
Our church has one too, but you have to be five years old to go.
She had a great time and still sings the songs...her favorite is Amazing Grace.
Here they are singing the song "Get up! Get up! Get up and tell the world..."

Hiawatha Bike Trail Summer 2012

Maylee and I did the Hiawatha bike trail twice this summer.  Once with a large group (2 uncles, 1 aunt, 3 cousins, and many friends of theirs) and the second time was with our Vancouver, WA cousins.

1st Trip
When you ride the Hiawatha you stop at Lookout Ski Lodge to buy your tickets.  When we pulled up, Maylee knew exactly where she was and said, "There's no snow!  Mom, I forgot my ski boots!"

She was the first to spot deer on the ski hill while we waited for the rest of the group...

Throwing rocks with Uncle Wes...

 1st Bus Ride...very exciting!

2nd Trip
Luckily, Kev had a day off fighting fires to join us.
