Gender Reveal

We did not find out if Maylee was a boy or a girl until she was born.  This time around, Kev wanted to know but I wasn't sure which way I wanted to go.  We decided to have the results sealed in an envelope in case we wanted to find out later.  All summer, it bothered Kev to know the envelope was at our house.  And, all summer I tried to convince Maylee that the baby could be a boy or a girl.  She would ALWAYS respond, "I picked a sister" or roll her eyes and say "It's a girl, Mom."

So I finally gave in to Kev at the beginning of the September...on one condition.  I wanted the two of us to go on a special date night when we open the envelope.  The Wednesday, before Maylee's birthday parties, we chose an upscale restaurant who seated us in a private table area.

We both thought it was a girl because the first trimester was the exact same as Maylee's.  But, thoughts of the baby possibly being a boy crept in our minds because the heart rate was lower at the past two appointments and I have been having a lot of sciatic nerve problems with my left side which I did not with Maylee.

Gender Reveal to Family and Friends in Moscow
We had the kids go inside the house to eat cake, while the adults bit into a cupcake outside to find pink or blue.  We were worried that Maylee would find out in Moscow and ruin the surprise before we could reveal to our friends at home.  The guests had to vote with pink and blue Hershey Kisses whether they thought the baby was a boy or a girl.

Gender Reveal to Maylee and Friends at Home
We had Maylee unwrap the largest present last at her birthday party.  She knew if blue balloons came out then the baby was a boy, and if pink balloons came out then the baby was a girl.  However, she still would say "It is a sister."  We had our guests write their name whether they thought the baby was a boy or a girl.  Notice, Maylee must have convinced all her friends at Carol's house that the baby was a girl because there were only two adult votes for a girl, the rest were kid votes.

It's a GIRL!

Maylee's 3rd Birthday

Maylee's Moscow Party
We had Maylee's 3rd birthday at her grandparent's house in Moscow because it is a more central location for her extended family than our house.  Her actual birthday fell on a Monday this year, so we bumped up the celebration for the weekend.  She always loves to party!  She chose a "colorful owl" theme.

Parachute Games
Maylee's parachute is always a big hit at parties,
especially when her P.E. Dad leads the games.

The girls found the gravel pile before the boys...

"Happy birthday to you!"

Present Time...

 She enjoyed her cake...

That night, Maylee did "Face Time" with Aunt Shelly and Uncle Kevin so they could watch her open the present from them.  Part of it was jewelry, which Maylee thought she needed to share with her dad.

Maylee's Friend Party at Mom's Classroom
(on her actually birthday)
For the past year, Maylee has been invited to birthdays of her friends in our area
so she told me she wanted a birthday party with her friends too.

She picked parachute games again...

Cake Time...
We had "Dirt Cake" for the guests, but Maylee thought she needed both...
